LUST OF THE FLESH!!!

MESSAGE TITLE: LUST OF THE FLESH 

TEXT: Colossians 3:5-10 ; Galatians 5:16-26
KEY VERSE : This I say then,  walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the LUST of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16)
INTRODUCTION: lust of the flesh is to desire for things of the world, i.e the pleasure of the world and its wickedness. 

Today,  the spirit of God want to open our eyes again to how we can become lustful and how to conquer it. May the Lord touch our heart to obey the word of the Lord to flee LUST of the flesh in JESUS name (Amen).

MESSAGE: according to the book of Galatians Chapter five from verse 16 downward,  we will see that LUST of the flesh give birth to bearing the fruits of the worrk of the flesh:

  • Galatians 5:17.- 21:17. For the flesh lusteth against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other so that ye cannot do the things that ye would
  • 19. Now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
  • 20. Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, sedictions, heresies, 
  •  21. Envying, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which i tell you before as  I have told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
From this bible portion, we see that the flesh and the spirit are always against each other, but the flesh is the most troublesome one,  because Satan always use the flesh against the spirit.
 According to Galatians 4:29: ,,,,,,,,"he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the spirit, even so it is now", 

i.e every aspects of the flesh is to wage war against the spirit to destroy the spiritual mission and visions that leads to life eternal.

HAVOCS DONE BY LUST OF THE FLESH TO OUR SOULS
   Lust of the flesh create so many deadly HAVOCS to our souls, some of them are as follows:

1. When one begin to nurse a desire after Worldly  things, that is,  LUST has begun. If there is no any effort made to stop those desire,, the LUST will continue to grow and continue to throw attacks on the weak spiritual desire of such person until it subdued it to nothing and the person will begin to bear the fruits of the flesh as mentioned above.

  1. FRUITS OF THE FLESH THAT RESULTS FROM THE LUST OF THE FLESH
a.  Adultery
b.  Fornication
c.  Uncleanness
d.  Lasciviousness
e. Idolatry
f.  Witchcraft
g. Hatred
h. Variance
i. Emulations
j. Wrath
k.  Strife
l.   Sedition
m. Heresies
n.  Envying
o. Murders
p. Drunkenness
q. Revellings
After revellings, he added, "and such like: of the which I tell you before as I have also told you in time past."

 These means there are other ones that Apostle Paul had told them before.

2. Secondly,  if LUST of the flesh is not fought against and destroyed,  another havoc it commits is that the Victim become a permanent slave to so many strong demons that will be controlling that person in every areas of his or her life.
Such Demons are:
1. Adultery Demons
2. Fornication Demons
3. Uncleanness Demons
4. Lasciviousness Demons
5. Idolatry Demons
6. Witchcraft Demons
7. Hatred Demons
8. Emulations Demons  (The person will be emulating evil things)
9. Wrath Demons ( Anger)
10. Heresies Demons
11. Envy Demons
12. Murderous Demons
16. Drunkenness Demons
17. Revelling Demons
18. And other Demonic Spirits.

These Demons did not enter and possess that person at once,  they possessed the person one After the other as the fleshly LUST grows stronger.

3. Another deadly havoc done by the LUST of the flesh is that it possess its Victim with the demonic spirit of the 'end time characters' as in:
  • 2Timothy 3:1-51." This know also, that in the last days perilous time shall come.
  • 2. For men shall be lovers of their own selves,  covetous,boasters, proud,  blasphemers,  disobedient to parents.  Unthankful, Unholy,
  • 3..Without natural affections,  truce breakers,  false accusers, incontinents,  fierce, despisers of those that are good.
  • 4. Traitors,  heady,  high minded,  lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.
  • 5. Having a Form of godliness but denying the power thereof..........
All these END TIME CHARACTERS mentioned have their various demons behind them. When lust of the flesh grow to this level in a person, please imagine how demonized that fellow becomes.
4. The greatest of all HAVOCS that LUST of 
the flesh does to its Victim  is ETERNAL DAMNATION. This is written boldly in
Galatians 5:21c: ".........that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God".
Now that the spirit of God had opened  our eyes to see how deadly the LUST OF THE FLESH is to our life,  let us move to learn how we can fight and conquers it.

HOW TO CONQUER THE LUST OF THE FLESH
For us to be able to fight and defeat the fleshly LUST,  we have to seriously strive to live and  walk in the spirit. For this to be possible, it will involves alot of violent strives by our spirit man to be possessed by DIVINE spirit of God against our demonized flesh till the flesh is conquered to death.  It is when our demonized flesh is Dead that our DIVINE spirit possessed inner man will be alive.

A lot of places in the bible tells us how we can attain this.
Places like:

  • ROMAN 12:1-31. I BESEECH you therefore,  brethren, by the mercies of God,  that ye present your bodies,  a living sacrifice, holy,  acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
  • 2. And be not conformed to this world : But be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind; that ye may prove what is that good,  and acceptable, and perfect will of God. 
  • 3. For I say through the grace given unto me,  to every man that is among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly,  according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."
From the above portion, we see that after we become born again, for us to be able to kill our flesh and stop it from LUST, to Live and walk in the spirit, we need to give God a reasonable service by self denial and sacrifices,  living holy,  by punctual and consistent studying of the word of God and with sound prayer till we gained a RENEWED MIND (sanctification), this will enable us not to be  conformed to the world, by this,  our spirit man will always be on fire for God, and will be able to do and prove all things that are good, acceptable and perfect will of God.
It is then anytime our flesh want to start to desire anything if this world i. e to conform to this world, then our fireful DIVINE spirit man will release fire of the word of  God in him and discard that LUST immediately. Anytime the flesh want to become high minded, the fire in the DIVINE spirit man will discard every high mindedness,  haughty and arrogant thoughts and destroy it.

2. Another portion of the bible that tells us how we can awaken our DIVINE spirit man to strive and fight against our flesh till it become DEAD, is found in Colossians 3:1-3, 5-10, 12, 16-17.
If we study these bible portions, we will see that for our DIVINE spirit man to  be awaken and strengthen to stand against the fleshly LUST, we have great work to do. We will also discover that, though going to church to fellowship with brethren is very important, alongside with that we have greater work to do by personal secrete fellowship with God to be able to put the flesh to death and awake our DIVINE spirit man.
As a born again christian, that had passed through water Baptism, a symbolism of being buried and resurrected with JESUS CHRIST, and having got our mind RENEWED from sins and iniquities,(SANCTIFICATION) we are to continued With the purification of that RENEWED mind as stated in:
  • Colossians 3:1-3,5. " If ye then be risen with Christ, seek ye those things that are above,  where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
  • 2. Set your affections on things above,  not on things on the earth.
  • 3. For ye are Dead and your life is hid with Christ in God.
  • 5. Mortify (Kill, to put to death) therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affections, evil concupiscence,  covetousness which is Idolatry.
  • How can we put all these to death,  Let us see verse 16;
  • 16. " Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalm,  and hymns and spiritual songs,  singing with grace in the heart to the Lord.17. And whatsoever ye do in words or deeds,  do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the father by him.
How can we have the word of Christ dwelling richly in us?  We will see the answer in Psalm 1:1-3; Joshua 1:8; Matthew 6:33.
  • Psalm 1:1-3
  • 1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of the sinners, nor sitteth in the sit of the scornful.
  • 2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
  • 3. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruits in his seasons.  His leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall proper.
Joshua 1:88. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth,  but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do According to all that is written therein. For then shalt thou make thy way prosperous,  and then thou shalt have Good success
The Lord JESUS CHRIST also said in:
Matthew 6:33 that:"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
We normally applies these bible portions to mean what we need to do, if we want to prosper physically, no, not only for that,  if we as a born again and regenerated children of God want to stand against the LUST of the flesh and be able to have spiritual prosperity till we enter the pearly gate of the celestial city to behold and be with God and the Lord Jesus Christ forever,  that is what these bible portions are telling us

According  to those bible portions, this is the way we can make the word of God dwell in us richly: Study the words and meditate over it,  meditation will lead to deep concentrated worship, praise and prayer section. Through that our DIVINE spirit man will always be awaken in possession of more than enough fireful grace of God to smite,  mortify and totally kill the flesh and its LUSTS.

When the  the flesh is dead, LUST cannot manifest,  Because a Dead man  can do nothing and then, that DIVINE spirit man that died in the Garden of eden after the fall of man,  will be awaken to do the work and bear the fruits of the Spirit in his rightful seasons according to what:
Psalm 1:3 said:" And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,  that brings forth his fruits in his seasons,  his leaf shall not wither,  And whatsoever he doeth shall proper.
This means,  as the man continues to study, meditate and live by the word on daily basis,  his DIVINE spirit man will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water of the word of God, he will now begin to bear the fruits of the spirit as stated in:
Galatians 5:19. His leaf,  that is, all his spiritual organs of sensation shall not wither,  they will always be at alert to the cautions of the holy spirit's voice.
The only fruits you will see him bearing in his seasons are those spiritual fruits like:
1. Love: He is always full of God's love towards God and fellow human being
2. Joy:.He rejoice always in every situation
3. Peace :He dwell in peace with every body
4,. Longsuffering: He endures every situations
5..Gentleness:.he is always gentle even in face of violent and wrong accusations.
6. Goodness:.He manifest goodness all the time even to those that maltreats him.
7. Faith: He has faith and always believes what God told him irrespective of life circumstances.
8. Meekness: he is always full of patient, because the spirit of God leads him, he doesn't do things rashly or hastily.
9. Temperance: He can always control his temper in any hot situation,  he doesn't display anger.
So,  whatsoever he doeth spiritually and physically will prosper. He will not need to LUST before God satisfy him.

CONCLUSION: In conclusion of this message, if flesh has being put to death, the person will begin to bear the fruits of the spirit as mentioned in:
Galatians 5:22-23 Verse 24-26 have some good advice for us:24..And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.25. If we live  in the spirit, Let us also walk in the spirit26. Let us not be desirous of vain glory provoking one another, envying one another.
Finally, our key verse for this message is:
THIS I SAY THEN,  WALK IN THE SPIRIT AND YE SHALL NOT FULFILL THE LUST OF THE FLESH.
